Class 3 Spring Term 2025

24/1/25 Home Learning Class 3

As we move towards the end of an uncharacteristically brief January, we have been continuing to improve out writing with a series of diary entries tracking the perilous journey of a climber ascending Mount Everest. We have also been thinking about ways that we can help the world in our Jigsaw. In science we have been learning about the characteristics of animals and different animal groups. Kim from the Really Wild Learning Centre came in and helped us to identify these animals with real life creatures for us to observe and hold. In our Maths we have also been tackling the dreaded Algebra, potentially the trickiest part of the primary curriculum. We have been doing well in these areas though and have been showing our resilience. If anyone does have any question or queries about any of their child’s learning or any part of their school then do let me know. Mr Long

Projects:

Please choose two of the following options to complete over the first half of the Spring Term

This will be due in by Friday 14th February 2025.

  1. Science: This term we are learning about animals. Create your own now animal with characteristics of two different animal groups ie. Reptiles and mammals. Then label it with the characteristics of these two groups.

  1. Geography: We are learning about natural disasters. Research and present information on volcanos or earthquakes with causes, examples and impact. This can be presented online or on paper.

  1. Art: We will be looking at Hokasai’s piece The Wave this term. Create your own version of this piece in whatever medium you desire

  1. Create a persuasive letter to try and persuade someone using the skills we have learnt in class ie. A letter to Mr Long asking for additional break. A letter to your parents asking for the introduction of cake for breakfast day every Thursday.

Reading

We expect the children to read 5 times a week – you can read to an adult (as it is always good to read aloud to practise your expression) or talk to your adult about what you have read.

Spelling

Below are spellings linked to their age group. They will not be tested in isolation. We will be looking at whether the children are using them accurately in their writing.
